With friends in Cambridge and Boston

Our friends from New Jersey visited us over the weekend. We tried to show them a little of our new home town ( and beyond!).
Here are some of the high lights:

Harvard Museum of Natural History (with an extraordinary glass flowers exhibition!)

Barbecue in our back yard

Visit at the Boston Library

and at the gorgeous Trinity Church.

Some exciting rides for the kids...!

A stroll through the Boston Common (Swan Boats included)

Visit at the State House

Lunch at Jacob Wirth (a German Brewery)

Dinner at Casa Portugal in Cambridge.
And then, two happy fans were cheering for the American soccer team while watching Copa America.

Time to say Bye (especially tough for two over tired boys,,,)

Messi at the Gillette Stadium!

Jakob and Olaf were there! They watched (with all the other 60. 000 soccer fans) the Copa America quoter final: Argentina vs Venezuela. It was a great game ( so they told me, lol).
Jakob was more than happy. He saw it as a historical moment, ha, ha.
I guess most of the fans felt the same...

Barbecuing in Cambridge

We had our first barbecue at our new house. It was the perfect night to do it.

Our neighbors (on both sides!) had the same idea, everybody was dining outside.
Funny, in all the years in New Jersey we barely saw people having dinner outside... I really like Cambridge! And my small back yard paradise, ha, ha

Unexpected discoveries

On my last Boston trip this week I made a few.
Like this very unusual clock at the Huntington Avenue.

And this Monet painting! Yes, it is a Monet! A special exhibition at the Museum of fine Arts.

Even the almost empty museum hall ( on Tuesday morning!) was a nice surprise.

Jazz at Thelonious Monkfish in Cambridge

What a great jazz performance! We really loved it!
And, it went so well with the sushi and sashimi we had.
Fun!

True fans...

Two soccer tournaments at the same time: Euro Cup and Copa America. A feast for Olaf and Jakob!
Because of the time difference they can watch soccer for at least 12 hours...oh joy...
Jakob arranged all his soccer treasures (especially for the game Germany vs Ukraine) in front at the tv, and he also selected the right jersey, lol...

Of course, after "playing" so many matches they deserved their favorite meal: home made potato dumplings!

Visitors from Germany exploring Cambridge (and beyond!)

My parents visited the Boston area and our new home for the first time. They just loved it here!!! Not a surprise!
During their stay here we did a LOT!

They walked the Freedom Trail,

and went on a Duck Tour.

They visited the Boston Library

and the Aquarium!

Of course, we also took many walks through Cambridge.

The men's team watched a soccer game (Revolution vs Seattle) at the Gillette Stadium.

We listened to jazz at Ryles in Cambridge.

We went on trips along the coast, took beach walks,

visited Hammond Castle

and Rockport, my parents favorite spot!

We ate Lobster Rolls and Oysters,
had dinner in our back yard,

at many places in Cambridge and in Little Italy.

We made it to the JFK Library

We even had a game night!

Then three weeks were over and they went home...
Not over the river, but over the ocean...
